Has anybody tried using Doepfer's Pocket Dial (16 Alpha-Dials in 4 banks) as a controller for Kyma? I'm searching for help writing a global map for this tool.

Henry, you should post your question on Tweaky, as this Forum is essentially dead.

I strongly disagree with the notion that the Forum is dead! The Forum is alive and well and the TWiki is functioning as an *adjunct* to the Forum. Essentially, the Forum is a collection of linear "conversations" and the TWiki is a collection of searchable databases organized by topic interconnected with hyperlinks.

For example, the Forum is ideal for:
* Time-sensitive questions, announcements, discussions that will go "stale" fairly quickly and are not necessarily appropriate for long-term storage in the databases of the TWiki.
* Kyma newbies who will find the Forum an easier and more familiar paradigm while they spend some time learning how to use the TWiki
* Conversational threads or discussions with lots of back and forth interaction (not necessarily organized by topic and not usually hyperlinked to other parts of the forum).
* Topics or questions that are not yet fully-formed and that can benefit from some back and forth discussion for awhile before drawing any conclusions.

The TWiki is idea for:
* A *summary* of one of those long Forum threads (where someone extracts the salient issues and summarizes the conclusions gleaned from the discussion)
* Hard-won information that might be of benefit to someone else who is using Kyma--things like tips or how-to articles or experiences with different configurations or how to fix a problem that someone else might encounter
* Shared Sounds, Tools, Expressions, Timelines
* Anything that you can imagine someone wanting to search for in the future

Whether this particular question belongs in the Forum or the TWiki depends on the kind of answer Hermann was looking for. My sense is that it is a good question for the forum, since it is likely to elicit lots of personal experiences and and several suggestions as to how to go about making the global map or whether there is another way to approach the problem. Once the thread dies down, however, it would be an ideal topic for Hermann to summarize in the How section of the TWiki. "How do I create a global map for the XYZ controller?"

Alternatively, he could post it to the How section of the TWiki immediately, get a string of responses, and later go back edit the several responses, condensing them into a single paragraph summarizing the important conclusions. That way, if someone else has the same kind of controller and searches for it in the future, they can benefit from the experiences that others have had with the controller.

i have a pocket dial.. but have not used it with Kyma yet. i, too, would be interested in some sort of global map for it.

i'm also really interested in the Motor Mix, since it maps automatically (with parameter names in the display) to Kyma.. but, desktop space and funds are currently prohibiting me..
