Hi all

I have a show coming up
http://opendoor.asu.edu/immerge

And I am trying to do something a little strange. That is I am using a GenericSource (paraphrase as Kyma is not in front of me) to play a sound file into a granulator about 2/3 of the way through the show. The thing is I want this file to be voice comments captured during the show, so I will actually not get the file untilo shortly before I want to use it as a source. I am unable to re-compile as I have a complex timeline with no empty parts going throughout the show. So I thought I could try loading the timeline with the reference to the file testFile01, and then when I got the replacement file, simply copy it into the directory (having set the reader to 'disk' rather than cache, and the new file would be read in, but this does not work. So I wonder if the collective brain might have a solution for me?

What form will the recorded comments be in? If someone is walking around with a Zoom recorder or something, maybe they could hand you the Zoom just before the show and, if you have a spare input on your audio interface, the first thing in your Timeline could be a Sound that captures that audio input into RAM for your granulations.

Thanks - I had not thought of buffering it in that way - would need to buffer 2 to 3 minutes of mono audio, but am guessing that should be ok - it is a very processor intense timeline so I will ned to check there is available RAM at that point - I had thought perhaps of playing it into an input off a portable device, but it makes much better sense re the way the show is operating to buffer it in the previous scene so the audio is there ready for the next cue where the voices bubble out across the space - thanks for that idea :-)
