Hi,

I just got my first intel mac. It seems that the flame object won't work with intel? I get the message from Max: "loading old CFM externals disabled."

Is David Kiers on the list these days?

thanks,
Phil

Hmm, I assume then that the max flame object is not intel-ready.

What's the feasibility then of making a tool that takes in midi from core midi devices (whether incoming from a hardware interface or generated from another program like Live, Max, or Logic) and sends it to the Capy via the flame interface? I imagine that would be useful to a lot of people.

Personally, I was having trouble sending midi into my Capy via the midi input and I don't want to go back to that. Though I have a sneaking suspician that that had something to do with my Midisport interface or Max (it seemed okay if I went directly from the faderbox to the Capy).

Hi Phil, no I found this also and asked David earlier if he could update it - it is not on his priority list as he does not have an intel mac at hand - I would also love this object back in operation - I used to use it a lot, but upgraded to Intel and have not been able to use it since. Perhaps Symbolic Sound would be prepared to keep the object operational as it is such a great interface to Kyma/Capy??

Cheers

Garth

We will help anyone who is a C programmer and wants to take on this project. But before going any further, you should first contact David Kiers for an update on his plans and to find out whether he intends to do it himself. If he has no interest in doing it, perhaps he would help you out with some source code.

Hi Phil Curtis. This is hmm my second or third post on this forum. You say that the Flame firewire interface is not working with intel mac with MAX?
So it is having the problem with MAX? or with Kyma Program?

By the way, do you know what the second firewire port does on the flame? I didnt seem to get any documentation on the flame.

thanks.

Hi Caleb,

No, the flame device itself works fine with intel macs.

What I was asking about was an external object for Max made by David Kiers. It is called "flame." (available on the Tweaky). It is broken for intel macs (no universal binary version). It allows control messages to be sent from Max to the Capybara unit, which means that you don't have to send those messages via midi. Which is good for me, because I have a problem with the midi input to my Capy that causes me to periodically lose the connection - the Capy just stops seeing it and I have to re-initialize (does anyone else have this?).

After further discussions via email, it appears that Phil was able to solve this problem by using the Max operator called speedlim. (He also got in contact with David Kiers regarding the Intel version of David's MAX object).
