Hi SSC

I realized the sound design for a theatre play in the National Theatre of Porto - Portugal. Please follow the link:
http://www.tnsj.pt/home/espetaculo.php?intShowID=559

For this sound design I used only Kyma for space designing: 8 Kyma channel outputs across 26 Meyer Sound speakers placed around the theatre.
Ten actors were miked (levalier mics) and a live musician (voice, violin, custom electric guitar and electronics).
All this inputs were mixed in mixing desk Midas Heritage 2000, sent to Kyma and spread in space by using only reverberation and delay algorithms.
I can only say: Uau!! Thanks SSC!!! Simply amazing … Kyma sound is so full and expressive that with only a few parameters I moved the space , stretched it, shrink it, delayed it … Kyma it !!! For a sound designer is dream come true. In this process I think of what I wanted and realized very efficiently in Kyma and the results were amazing.

Thank´s to all people in SSC for making my work sound the best!!!

Creative regards

Congratulations, Luis! Where were the 26 speakers placed in the theatre? Equally spaced around the audience or ...?

Hi SSC

The space was divided in 4 parts: Front of House (10 speakers), Surround House (10 speakers) and Back of Stage (4 speakers) and Inside Stage (2 speakers). All of these were paired in 8 Kyma output channels divided in the various zones ... et voilá!!

Thank you for your kind response

Hi

thanks for your feedback. yes I agree with you Kyma is the best sound design platform of our days (and those to come...) It was the first time I used Kyma in this way and I was really impressed with the results. The only scratch head I had was to calculate the angles so I could put them correctly in the Kyma Speaker Placement. With this detail solved it was only creativity flowing ;-)

After that show I made another one with only two speakers and two channels of audio ... and it was impressive: I recorded, sampled, played, create effects and did all show in Kyma. I assure you Kyma is great with 26 speakers and with 2 speakers is even greater ;-)
