![]() ![]() ![]() Here's something someone might find useful... I have my Capybara mounted in a studio-style desk which has rack rails built into the monitor riser. I was frustrated by the need to crawl under my desk to turn on the power, or plug in a new input or output cable. It dawned on me last week that the screws holding the rack mounts might be symmetrical, so I unscrewed them and lo and behold they were. So I mounted the rails backwards and now the ports and power switch are easily accessible right in the front. The only disadvantage is that cool blue LED is no longer visible. James IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I've done exactly the same - making a patchbay is too much trouble ![]() Gareth IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() That sounds like a good idea, except now you have the fan facing you as well. Is this not bothersome? Kelvin IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I don't think that its luck that we have these options on the cappybara, more like it's been well thought out. Some people use the cappy as a patch bay and some use it with a patch bay so they don't want any cables sticking out the front just to hav to find there way back into the rack. also the fact that the ears are removable means it can stand on it's own. in my home set up where space is important, I have the cappy under my clavenola sitting on it's belly with the connectors on the upper surface . The great thing about this is that the side plates of the cappy protrood by 1/4 inch so that the LED dosen't scrach the wooden cross bar on the piano or get damaged itself. I think its simply well thought out good design. Has anyone seen the ems vocoda with fixed 19 inch rack ears on both the front and the back. WHY?? regard pete IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() We have had the quiet fans on order for a month now, but for some unknown reason there is a worldwide fan shortage, so they are backordered for another two months. I don't know where the fans are going (does the Playstation II have a fan in it?) IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() My $0.02 USD...I agree with Pete. I think the Capybara-320 is one of the best hardware designs I've seen. Extremely clean, elegant, and well thought out. Everything assembles/disassembles easily. Definitely NOT a Maytag design. ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Yes the PS2 has a fan. So the shortage should endure. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() [QUOTE]Originally posted by kelvin: [B]That sounds like a good idea, except now you have the fan facing you as well. Is this not bothersome? I, too, installed my Capy "backwards" (cables & switch facing out) in my "bedroom studio." But the fan issue is negated by running cables into a closet and shutting the door on the unit. BTW This closet is where most of my "noisy" equipment is: computer, external drives, CD-burner, printer. A long keyboard cable and a long *high-quality* monitor cable and 6' SCSI cable to an external Zip drive and I'm all set. Sure ... it's a short walk to the floopy drive, printer, CD-burner, but the "exercise" is probably good for me [This message has been edited by phillipm (edited 26 February 2001).] IP: Logged |
