This is purely hypothetical but could the Symbolic Sound team envisage that a future version of Kyma could be made to run solely on the controller? i.e. would the iPad2 be capable of supporting this perhaps? (or a future iPad model)

I think it's not that difficult to guess. If you look how iPad iOS reflects on the new Mac OS X Lion: http://www.apple.com/macosx/lion/
Imagine you then have a Launchpad/Mission Control style in Kyma structure.

I also think if the iPad 3 has Thunderbolt there will be soon a Thunderbolt version of the Pacarana.

So Kyma with Launchpad/Mission Control style: awesome. Kyma running under iOS: awesomer. Thunderbolt on Pacarana: awesomest. The future rocks.
