I came across a less than informative website of a Stephen McGreevy, who records the sounds of the magnetosphere, called natural VLF radio. Does anyone have experience with using his recorder? Is it meant for recordings in the wilderness, or can it be used with interesting results elsewhere? etc.
Thanks,
Bob

I looked over a number of websites about this - at one they mention getting away from interference from powerlines. This is probably why all of his work seems to take place in the wilderness... in town you'd probably just get a lot of hum and noise (his receiver can pick up electrostatic discharge from flapping *insect wings*!)

Bill,
I do have a little place in the upstate New York countryside, but it is hard to get away totally from above ground electricity and phone lines. I'll have to think about this before buying. Thanks for your input.
