Hi everyone, this is my first post, and I've only had my Kyma system a week. So please bear with me if this is incredibly obvious to everyone.

I've managed to use Stereoizer to convert a monophonic Monotonizer preset so that it works on stereo input files. Yay! Now I want to do the same thing, but to work on 4-channel WAV files.

I assume it would involve either the Replicator, or the Quad Player, but nothing I've tried so far works as I expected. It all seems to assume a stereo audio file on disk being mapped INTO surround, whereas I want to process an actual 4-channel source, basically in to out.

Any hints very much appreciated!

cheers
Dan

Hi Dan,

You could experiment with the MultiToMultichannel prototype. Please let us know how it goes!

Thanks!

Thanks, that's useful, I am getting closer.

But it seems there is no way for me to play the 4-channel WAV files from disk, is that right? Must I separate all my sources into 4 separate mono files (.L, .R, .LS, and .LR) ??

cheers, Dan

Yes, there is no interleaved quad reader, just split multichannel files.

That works, thanks!

Reading from, and writing to, multi-channel files would be a wonderful addition tho. Would save all this splitting, renaming, re-merging... whew!!

Hello Polypx

Welcome to the Kyma Community!

Do not worry if the questions you encounter seem too obvious, always post them as it serves a great purpose: I had not encountered the MultitoMultiChannel prototype before!! There are also sometimes a few techniques to achieve the same ends, it is great to read about the various implementations people conjure up.

If you find workflow areas you think can be improved, such as the interleaved file formats, login and browse/edit the wish! http://www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/bin/view/Wish/WebHome

Have fun,

Charlie

Thanks Charlie. I hadn't seen the wishlist before.

Lots of fun discovering all the nooks and crannies of Kyma resources. So much to learn, so few hours in the day!

cheers, Dan
