Hi guys

Thanks a million for the Wii Controller implementation - I replaced the Motormix with the Wii for a festival performance on the weekend of a piece for HurdiGurdi and Kyma - you can hear a sample of the piece here - http://www.syncsonics.com/blog/?page_id=39.

I noted a couple of things.

If i use the ButtonA to control a toggle in the GUI, it does not toggle - ie. it is active when the buttojn is down and goes to the off state as soon as the button is let go, so acts more as a button. I am using this function to freeze a granulation buffer, so need the toggle behaviour - I could not see how to change this behaviour.

I would also be really pleased if the other buttons on the Wii could be implemented as I need lots of control and would use the buttons to redirect the X/Y/Z behaviours to different variables if they were available directly in CapyTalk.

The audience were fascinated, and so was I :-) It felt nice to be able to just sway along with the music and control everything without looking at the computer at all.

Thanks a million - lots of fun

Garth

Congratulations (it might have been the first public wii+Kyma live performance?)

>If i use the ButtonA to control a toggle in the GUI, it does not toggle
Right. To make a toggling widget in the VCS, use a SoundToGlobalController. The Value expression would be !ButtonA asToggle. The GeneratedEvent would be !ToggleA (or whatever you like). Use the VCS Editor to change !ToggleA widget into a fill Button, and you will have some visual feedback on what state the toggle is in.

>I would also be really pleased if the other buttons on the Wii could be implemented as I need
The quick way to do this would be to use OSCulator to map those buttons to specific MIDI controller numbers. Then you can make your own global map in order to map those MIDI controls to more meaningful names, ranges, and widget types.

I can imagine the audience enjoyed the Wiimote performance a lot more than they would have enjoyed a "fader box" performance.

Garth, I enjoyed listening to the Kyma/Hurdy performance... I particularly liked the atmospheric sine/out of tune radio sounds, how did you build those up?

Cheers...

Jack

Is there any chance to see a windows implementation?
Otherwise I would have to buy a cheap Mac...
Will Wii work on a Mac mini intel?
Thanks
K.

Hi,

I am sorry, there won't be a Windows port. I have the time to support only one implementation. A Mac Mini with Intel processor runs just fine!

Best,
Camille

we just did another performance usng WiiMote in the NY Electronic Arts Festival, and I was intersted in feedback from people that the Wii made the performance 'musical', because I was standing up with my colleague playing music rather than addressing the computer.

I for one am very pleased that SS have implemented the Wacom and the Wii in such a fabulous way, and of course for OSCulator which has proved reliable and robust in performances in theatres which light dimmers etc all causing noise - ie. the Bluetooth connection seems robust even in a hsotile environment.

this is exactly what is so exciting about the Kyma/OSCulator/Wiimote,
just yesterday whilst trying out the new sounds from SSC [which are really great!! thanks a lot ] I found myself playing Kyma for the first time! With the Wiimote, I suddenly found myself taking my eyes off the faders and really listening to my interaction with Kyma and feeling like I was performing rather than trying to get faders/parameters into interesting combinations.

My Thanks to SSC for the great new sounds and to Tucsland/Camille for enabling this!
