![]() ![]() ![]() Dear All, working together with a sculpturist/instrument-builder at the moment, who creates acoustic music-instruments on the edge of order and chaos - that is, inspired by chaos theories of Lorentz and Mandelbrot - I am looking for additional inspiration with respect to 'chaos and/in music'. Being relatively unexperienced with chaos theory, systems, algorithms and their added value for music: is anybody here experienced with the implementation of this kind of thoughts/elements into kyma? For example with embedding Lorentz equations in a kyma patch? Also hints with respect to good literature, websites, of course music, composers, maybe masters (?) in this area are very welcome. Just looking for diverse input, so that the output will be accordingly, hopefully :-) Best, Florian IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Chaos and order are a funny way. Chaos theory is a very interesting way of formulating maps of reality. It is also quite a matter of state of mind whether the answer (be it a "fractal" mandelbrot set, or a recursive, fedback, self similar, or genetic, sound architecture) is to be deemed chaos or order. It is also no les irrational as grading reality with any other marality/ judgement based system, no? Like saying things are good or bad, right or wrong, 1 or 0, black or white, god or devil, chaos or order. The real value of chaos theory is that it can be one of the only "non-judgemental" sciences for exploring reality, right up there with daoism, and non-linguistic, instictual interaction with our surroundings (as I supose, many other living beings base their states of mind in). Existence is the same wether we think of it in terms of being totally unpredictable and random, or exactly following a path created by predetermined pasts, generating predetermined futeres, and so on. Personally, i like to remain out of that argument and decision, simply because i see it as irrelevant, what my opinion on the status of reality is. What a ramble!!! damn, too much DMT. Maybe... So here are my recomendations for you in terms of resources: this is a nice set of resources to help you on your path, i hope. Kyma is a fine tool to experiment and explore this "fractal" sound, have fun! IP: Logged |
