What do I have to write in the "RecordingName" field of a Memorywriter and the "Sample" field of a Sample if I want to make a "New Class from Example"? When using jut one name like "recording" and combine two sound of this new class I get the error message: "the wavetable "recording" is written more than once". Any hints? IP: Logged |

Hi Franz I think there is a way where you make the name generate a random name which is placed in both the writer and reader but I don't know how to do that. The other alternative is to replace the name "recording" with a green variable i.e. ?RamName and make a RamName field in the encapsulated modules. When the environment asks you for a value for RamName you must put in a name with single quotes i.e. 'recording'. Then when encapsulating I think you make this field as type file name or something similar. I don't have Kyma set up at the moment so I cannot verify. Then you can make modules with different names and also have other modules reading the same ram if you wish. Please let me know how you get on. Pete IP: Logged |

Not sure if I understand your question, but if I do, I had a similar question that was answered here several years ago. This *might* provide a solution. 1) Put the following in as both your recording and sample name {'recording' & ?voiceNumber} 2) Use the Replicator prototype to generate multiple (polyphonic) copies of your original sound. You can then use a trigger system where the count for the number of triggers gets substituted for the ?voiceNumber variable. I'll see if I can find my original posting. IP: Logged |

Hi Pete, thank you - that works and saves me a lot of time :-) Phillip, thank you for the hint! I remember your original posting - I´ve used this expression several time since then! (Right now I´ve already got so many triggers etc. that I was looking for a simpler solution ) best, [This message has been edited by franz (edited 25 September 2013).] IP: Logged |

Alternatively, you can place a variable in the RecordingName field, like ?recording and then encapsulate the class, using something like 'recording' for the value when Kyma asks for a value, and then choosing "recording name" as the parameter type in the class editor. This will make a parameter for your new Sound class where you could put in unique wavetable names. IP: Logged |
