Not so much a Kyma support question as a Math support one!

Would be very interested if anyone knows of some math online / eBook resources appropriate for kyma, sound and music creation. my studies of biology and chemistry didn't involve complicated math. Sometimes I wish I'd studied Algebra instead of Algae!! ;-)

I agree, Mathworld is a great resource! (coincidentially, their offices are just about a block away from Symbolic Sound in Champaign).

Was there a specific area that you were interested in? (e.g. signal proceessing? logic? complex systems? algebraic algae?;-)

Also if you have a specific question please don't hesitate to ask it here or in the tweaky.

thanks a lot for the link - my previous searches mostly came up with resources for teaches who already know their subject.

I was hoping to understand the workings of some of the DSP & Acoustics texts I have on my bookshelf - my weak math is really an obstacle to connecting the abstract of the equations to the waves coming of my speakers.

My goal would be to go from A) I like this Kyma Sound, how can I modify it to B) I want this sound, the required Kyma structure would be this.

Having a browse through the site now - just what I was looking for!
(and it's in book form too! $129 phew!) Thanks a lot :-)

Hi photonal,

I'm in the same boat as you. This question came up on the Max/MSP list (I think it was) awhile ago, and a couple of people recommended "Engineering Mathematics" by K.A. Stroud. I filed the recommendation away for future reference - I still haven't gotten it (still hoping to get through the Smalltalk books I recently picked up!).

It may not cover all of the topics that Mathworld does (I think it's supposed to be for a first year engineering course), but it goes step by step, which I need.

It gets good reviews on Amazon:

Here's my fav:
http://www.dspguide.com/

You can download the entire book at no charge and the math is very accessible.
