I've had a goal for a while but I've been struggling to bring it in to fruition.

I'd like to take any pitched sound source, analyse the frequency coming in, then pitch the fundamental of that up to C3 + whatever note is played on the midi keyboard. In other words, I want to be able to take any sample, and play it straight away with the midi keyboard and the sounds should be tuned to the notes I'm playing on the midi keyboard.

I've been looking at a lot of the sounds Frequency Tracking.kym but can't find anything that does exactly what I want.

I'm pretty sure that this sound will involve the FrequencyEstimator, and the SimplePitchShifter or something similar.

Anyway hints on which Sound to pull apart? Or what I need to do to make this work?

did you check the prototype called Monotonizer?
It basically does this on the fly.

all the best

Thanks Chris!

I just tried that out after you recommended it. I don't time to go in to it in depth, but I think this might be exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks so much.

Win!!!

I just tried feeding two samples in to the monotoniser. One was pitched at C, the other D# . I changed the Frequency to "!KeyPitch nn", and the sample's Trigger to "!KeyDown". I got out my guitar tuner and placed it near the speaker. When I hit C on the keyboard with either sample, it automatically pitches the note to C, or any other note I hit on the keyboard.

I've been wanting to do this for a long time!

Thanks heaps.

Hi Christian,

Try morphing two or more analysis files prior to reaching the monotonizer. The result is a (sometimes radical) change in timbre, but not in pitch.
