Hi Guys,

I am using Osculator here to manage midi to my pacarana.

When I have Osculator set in raw mode so it passes /midi/raw/osc-in to the pacarana notes, pitchbend and aftertouch work fine but CCs do not.

If I use interpreted midi it send /midi/cc1 for example and works.

Shouls this work in raw mode?

Thanks

Andy

Assuming that Osculator is doing it right (meaning using the Pacarana's native MIDI-over-OSC implementation) then the answer is yes it should work. One thing to check though is whether Kyma is set up to use the MotorMix as a control surface (its a preference setting). When MotorMix support is turned on then MIDI CCs on channel 1 are "grabbed" by the MotorMix VCS handler and never make it any further. Basically this means that MIDI CCs on channel 1 are effectively filtered out. Try sending the CCs on another MIDI channel (say 2). Those will make it through and you will be able to assign them as controllers on the VCS.

If this is the source of your problem the simple solution is to turn off MotorMix support. However that will also prevent vM2, vKA, vKiP, and vKi from working so it may not be an option. Unfortunately MotorMix support is locked to channel 1 (the original MotorMix hardware only supported channel 1) so there is no way to move it to a less often used channel. An alternative solution is to set Kyma's global channel to something other than 1.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the reply.

I have had a look at the motormix stuff, didn't make a difference unfortunately.

I emailed Camille (Osculator guy) and he seems to think it should work.

Maybe someone from SS will get back....

Cheers

Andy

ExampleRawMIDIRouting.zip

We just tried it out and it worked here. Did you have the OSCulator message Event Type set for OSC Routing?

We used OSCulator version 2.12.2 and Kyma 6.86 (with the Performance Preference for External MIDI Controller set to Other) using the attached OSCulator document.

Tried your doc, its the same as I had it set and behaves exactly the same, its just not working for me!

If I change to interpreted/Kyma CC it works perfectly.

Very strange, is there any way of getting kyma to display whats happening at the OSC level?

Hi Guys,

Ok it looks like s bug in osculator.

My KMI StringPort seems to have been arseing it up in some way (as it does with lots of other things as it is a piece of crap).

So with the StringPort disconnected it all works.

Cheers

Andy

Hey, bobthedog - I don't see a way to private message someone on this forum - I would be interested to hear about your experience with the stringport. Could you possibly email me at implode7@comcast.net? Someone recommended this to me to use with my violin, but they hadn't actually used one....

(sorry if this is against any forum protocol).
