![]() ![]() ![]() Is it possible to use Smalltalk to extract how many presets there are in the sound to the left of an interpolate presets? In the same way as ?NumberTracks or TrackNumber in the the Replicator and Spectral Modifier respectively IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Cristian. Unfortunately, there is no Smalltalk way of determining the number of presets in the Sound to the left. ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() My question stems from the following situation. I am preparing for a week long session in a recording studio in two months. My goal is to compose in Kyma leaving everything adaptable to a larger scale multi-output situation to plug into the outboard. So , I figured to write in presets, and sequence those in the Timeline. Yet, I am stumbling into a whole host of little problems, so lets start with a few questions, that could be useful to everyone. a) In the AutoLabel VCS option of Interpolate Presets, can I trust that the tick marks in the VCS are precisely representing the stored snapshot of variables? Maybe its a a trick of the visual interface, but to my ear, I feel that the presets on the tickmarks are not exactly the same as before in some situations (like odd number presets, i.e. 17) ... could that be due to rounding precision? b) If I want to snap the VCS fader to the exact preset on the line, where do I set the rounding? In the !Preset fader of the InterpPreset sound? (This is where I needed to know how many presets there were , to calculate the rounding snap). Or should I set the rounding on the actual fader in the VCS widget editor? (There is a clue to the snap value as 'steps between values' in the Set Tick Marks dialog ) *I am going form memory here, so not exactly the wording! c) Interpolating the Presets of the Timeline is promising. My question here is; Do all sounds need to take account of each others' state for each Timeline Preset, regardless of their own internal preset count? For example, if I have some drums with 15 presets and a bassline with 10 presets as seperate sounds in a Timeline, I suppose they share one preset list, but interpolate through at different ratios. So if I want to change only the bassline pitches in this example, do I need to compose only with presets stored in the top layer of the Timeline VCS? d) If I place Interpolate Presets at the end of each sound in a Timeline, I hope I get an interp fader made to measure for each sound and its preset count; Will this "nested" approach work with the Timeline? Can I still use Preset interpolation on the Timeline in this scenario? and finally… e) What happens to !BPM changes stored within presets, when working on the Timeline? Looks like I cannot un-master the !BPM , so the master !BPM fader seems to override or basically weird out the !BPM changes going on inside a sounds' presets. Perhaps I should recode all the sounds to use something else instead of !BPM, like !BeatClock …. which does not get taken-over by the Timeline class. IP: Logged |
