Attached Sound simulates a circular plate, clamped around the edge, and struct about 1/5th of the way out from the center. Its sound in the register above middle C is strongly reminiscent of a Carribean steel drum.

Unlike the free circular plate, the lowest mode of vibration in this case is the most basic mode -- corresponding to the whole plate moving to and fro like an oilcan bottom. The free plate has this same mode, but the lowest frequency mode for it was the mode where, if you divide the circle into 4 quadrants, the adjacent quadrants move in opposite directions, and the opposite quadrants move together.
