hello experienced kyma users...
i'm looking for some help regarding randomization of loop points on a sample.

i'm interested, for one, in randomization..but CONTROLLED randomization.. which i believe i can accomplish using an array in the expression field... to randomly jump between a set of pre-defined numbers.... between 0 and 1... to select my loop start and ends.. (please correct me if i'm wrong!)

but, what i for sure don't know how to do.... is it possible to create say, a button, that would be the catalyst for those jumps.. ie: my sample would be looping along... in a static loop, but when i hit a button in the VCS it jumps to one of the "random" loop points as defined in the array... and then stays at that loop until i hit the button again....

thanks for your help..

Taylor,

Maybe you can try something like !button nextRandom abs * 5 of #(0 0.25 0.5 0.75 1). Then assign a button widget to !button in the VCS editor

eric answered the looping question, so this more of an fyi. i have had good results using the HotPink generator in creating controlled randomization. set the frequency to your tempo and you have jitter which changes by the beat or measure.

also the input/output characteristic sound can be useful in smoothing out or filtering random functions when something like 'smooth: x' doesn't work.
