TimeLineLoopingDemo.ktl

Hello,
I'm sorry to bother you all again, but i have a problem i did not find a solution by myself.
When i send a program-change within the timeline to jump to a different position(marker) even within the range of the same sound(s) you can hear the "attack" of the first beat gets lost somehow (in the demo example a drum-loop from the kyma 3rd party library).

I attached the demo timeline ... maybe there is a misunderstanding on my side or simply a better way to "jump in sync to the beat" between "parts of a song" ...without losing the overall timing..

I hope SSC or someone else has a solution for this. This is the main problem why i did not completely switch to kyma for playing live for now ...

To jumping to different positions "in sync" is awesome and the perfect solution to have the freedom to rearrange everything on the fly while playing live...(and the main reason why Ableton Live is so popular i think)

All the best from Berlin
Chris

anticipatoryJumper.ktl

OK so this is not a permanent solution, but it demonstrates part of what's going on. And you might be able to continue working with it this way temporarily. (Awesome example, btw

You're using alignWith: to ensure that the jump happens exactly on the beat which makes perfect sense. What a human would do (unconsciously) is to very slightly anticipate the beat and press the jump button just a tiny bit before the down beat. In this example, the jump is aligned to a metronome that is very slightly out of phase to make the jump to happen just before the downbeat.

We are working on a better solution that wouldn't require you to generate an out of phase BPM using a delay line like this. But for now, this idea might help.

That would be awesome ...

Thank you so much!
The workaround is a cool idea !
Feel free to use my examples...
If i can be of any assistance let me know ...

Any progress on this?
In everyday use the solution above is very "fragile" and sometimes unpredictable ... because the delay times vary from tempo to tempo of course ...

Another very nice addition which would make my Kyma work a lot easier would be a polyphonic MIDI player with a loop function.(Much like the MIDIVoice, but with variable Tempo and a Loop function)
Just to import some MIDI patterns from my DAW and loop them with variable tempo in a non linear Timeline. Best would be to actually change the Patterns(midifiles) with an Index (much like OSC Waveforms).

These two points are the most critical points and are the main reason why i still have to use a second Computer with another Software for playing live ... to actually stay always in sync and trigger Notes in Kyma in a non linear fashion.
I would be so happy to see these feature one day...

Keep up the good work and
have a nice day !

Chris

Great ideas! I have added them to the Wish List!
