hexGridGlobalMap11_w_trackChain.map.zip

Hi,

I have this in my custom global map:

!ChainDetectsPen is: (`MIDIController125 displayAs: #gate; channel: 11).

When I try writing the name into a field it auto-completes, but in the VCS the midi channel and controller aren't configured to specified channel and controller - they are left unassigned.

Other controllers I have defined in the global map in the exact same way DO come up in the VCS with the channel/controllers assigned.

Any ideas? I'm attaching the map here (zipped, because it wouldn't attach as a .map file).

thanks,
Phil

Phil, could you please email the global map to us? Thanks!

The reason this does not work is that your controller number is too large.

Controllers 120-127 are reserved by the MIDI specification for mode change messages ( http://www.midi.org/techspecs/midimessages.php ) and are ignored by Kyma.

But if I manually change the midi channel/controller assignments in the VCS, those messages are received fine.

The MIDI specification seems a bit antiquated to me; I don't use any of the controller numbers in the way the specification intends them to be used.
