I've just upgraded to Mac OS 10.3.4, ProTools 6.4.1/MixPlus system, and Kyma X 6.09. I'm on a Capybara 320LS w/ FW. I was running 10.2.8/ PT 6.1 and Kyma 6.01?(From the install CD) and had no problems. Now when trying to play an oscillator or grain cloud I get the following mesage. Any thoughts? Thanks.Kyma encountered this unexpected condition: Data unavailable or EOF reached This may have occurred due to a problem in one of your Sounds. The following information is provided to help you track down the problem. If you continue to get this message after having made sure there are no problems in your Sound, please contact Symbolic Sound customer support for assistance. Can you check in the Finder to make sure that "Macintosh HD:Applications:Kyma:Waves:Waveforms:sine.aif" exists and is more than 13000 bytes long? Thanks!

sine.aif is 16,568 bytes long. there's no compatibility issues with 10.3.4 and Kyma X 6.09? Thanks!

Please try resetting the preferneces by starting Kyma with the Caps Lock key down. When it asks, please confirm that you want to reset the preferences.Let us know if this changes anything.

It almost looks as if your copy of the Sine table might have gotten damaged when you installed it. (You aren't using "file vault" are you?)

Thanks for the replys. I can't upgrade to 10.3.5 or above. Digidesign has stopped support for PT Mix systems at 10.3.4. Bummer.I am not using file vault. It's more than just the sine file. Any file from that folder(for grains or oscillators) gives me the same message. Odd. Thanks again. Happy Holiday!

Are you logged in as a different user than when you installed Kyma? (For example, you installed it as Admin and are using Kyma logged in as yourself.)

No. I'm the only user and logged in as the admin. Any chance this is a hardware issue? Any diagnostics I can run on the Capybara? I'll do a ground up re-install of the whole system after the holiday weekend and report back. Thanks.

It does not sound like anything that could be caused by a hardware problem (unless there is a problem with your Macintosh itself). If you decide to reinstall, please rename your old Kyma folder (so that you install into a new Kyma folder). This way, if reinstalling fixes the problem, we would have an opportunity to try to figure out what was different.

Hi Timothy I'm sure you have already done so but just in case, Have you repaired permissions in the hard disc utilities. We find that we have to repair permissions every time we install anything on a G5 and at regular intervals after that to get any thing to work. Some installs we've found that the permissions must be repaired imediatly after instaling and before the reboot. Trying to repair them after the reboot had happend didn't cure the fault. Pete.

Happy to report that re-installing the Kyma software from the CD and fixing permissions appears to have fixed the above problem. I can return to the land of Oscillators an Grain clouds. Time to get back to work. Thanks for all the help. Cheers.SSC, I'd be happy to go further and figure out what happened to the previous installation.

Let's take this to direct email, please. We can summarize the results when we have figured out what is happening.
