I've never used osc, and I've never played a nintendo game. Getting this to work is described as easy, but I am getting nowhere at all. Running Osculator gives me no windows at all, and pressing the 1 and 2 buttons on the remote does nothing but light up some lights on the remote. Loading up one of the sample kyma sounds gives me the following error when I start it: The message #trueforlast: set to (('threshold - wiiacclx) as logicvalue negated ti) an instance of class offset event was not understood).

I may have copied that slightly wrong.

Can someone help me get started with this thing? I'm giving up and playing with my modular now...someone can email me at implode7@comcast.net if this is just to basic to dwell on here.

Hi!

Have you updated to the latest version of Kyma (X.44)?

hmmm - I always see the notifications of updates, then I forget to install and leave with the memory that I have the latest...I had 10.4.1 so I updated to 10.4.4. Now I can start the example kyma sounds without error, but I still am apparently missing something because the remote doesn't seem to do anything (except when I press the 1 & 2 buttons the lights flash for awhile. And I can't get the osculator app to do anything, apparently. I'll mess with it more tonight, and go over the documentation again, and maybe I'll stumble on some silly thing that I missed. My computer (g5 quad) wasn't listed on the list of supported computers that I saw somewhere, but I suspect that it IS supported?

I noticed that the quad G5 lists Bluetooth as "optional". Do you see the Bluetooth icon at the top right of your screen? (looks like a pointy 'B')

If not, then you might need to use a USB-Bluetooth dongle. I've been using the Kensington Model 33348 Bluetooth USB Adapter. If other people on the forum have had sucess with others, that would be really useful to know.

ah - I was thinking that there was no bluetooth - I don't see anything in my system preferences, and I see that referred to in the osculator docs...

I have no knowledge of bluetooth whatsoever - you're saying that I would need more than a software installation, and that this dongle would give me what I need?

Yes, and they're dirt-cheap these days.

Hi!

I am surprised that OSCulator has not complained that there was no bluetooth adapter available... I'll check that again.

Well - thanks all - I am confident now that I can get this working. Osculator doesn't complain - it just doesn't do anything at all, which is one of the confusing aspects. It took me awhile to begin to realize that I might need Bluetooth installed.

I neglected to mention that you could also get a Bluetooth board for your G5 Quad directly from Apple (this would be even better than using the external dongle, as long as your CPU isn't far away from where you would be using the Wiimote).

Well, I can pick up one of those Kensington dongles on the way home, and try it out this weekend, so that temptation will win out. If that doesn't work well, I can always look for one of the Apple boards, though I didn't see one at the Apple Store...
