Maybe this should be a request now - BUt I am experimenting with Wii (WOW) and no I want to do air scratching of disk files and sample files - This makes for the need to be able to index , store and restore index (playback head position) and maybe even jump to markers in Sample Files ...

Any suggestions of how to do this? I guess the dropping in or simple linear index can be done with a start and end point indexing of SampleFileDuration ratio. Perhaps into: arrays to jump to marker points? BUt the best thing would be to be able to drop in and index disk based audio.. to make the foundations for a digital DJ type Sound in Kyma.

oh - I've just seen the SampleScratch example on the Wii section of the TwiKi know.

Nice - using a Waveshaper to index through the sample! I can adapt this , but for longer disk based audio?

enjoying going thru the Wii examples, but some of them aren't compiling .. like 'Select Samples From Wii Orientation' 'Piano Space'

there s some really cool stuff , i just have to practice more to get more delicate control! its an instrument alright

EDIT: I forgot to update to 6.44 !

Yes, the Wiimote is remarkably sensitive and responsive, isn't it? It's a real instrument and not a toy (even though it *is* part of a game).

Regarding Piano Space, do you have the Ed's Greatest Hits samples? (They are on tweaky download page if you do not yet have them).

As you discovered, putting a sample into a Waveshaper allows one to us the input as an index. The key to doing the disk-based version will be to buffer the region around your index into a Waveshaper and then use the Waveshaper for the scratching.

Yes, it was the update for the new controller Capytalk commands - I enjoyed programming my first Wii performance sound today, the pouring of a wonderful glass of crispycristal drips!

SSC, could you maybe post an example of a disk based version samplefile scrubbing/indexing? I can't quite get my head round it...

Here is a link to an example of capturing part of a disk track and either looping it or scratching it:
