I quite often find I have an overload on processor 1 - not because of disk access, but because of allocation of other processes, and this occures when I have plenty of DSP free - is there any way to prevent this other than force the processor?

Thanks, Garth

Does the "out of real time" message appear in the DSP Status? If it is out of real time, things can pile up on processor 1 (and the sample rate slows down as it is unable to keep up. The other processors could be fully utilized at the full sample rate but when the rate slows down due to falling behind real time, less of their capacities are being utilized). In other words, if you see the out of realtime message, the DSP display is no longer accurate at that point.
