![]() ![]() ![]() Hi all, I have had a nagging problem with the results of Timeline recordings that is probably due to my lack of knowledge, but which is driving me batty. In short, I experience a small latency in the recorded sound from a Timeline that leaves the resulting soundbites out of sync with other material I am using when I import the sounds to my Digital Performer sequences. I have the master BPM set to the correct tempo and begin the Timeline sound on the exact downbeat (i.e. I have used both 1-1-0 and 1-1-1 start times). I have even tried moving the sound to be recorded further back in the Timeline (i.e. 5-1-0), but still experience a small silent start to the recorded sound that creates my timing problem. I am working with properly trimmed audio samples, so that isn't the source of the problem. The latency (if that's the correct term here) in the start of the sound (often a multiple bar figure) screws up the timing of everything that follows. Can anyone help me out of the woods? Thanks, Bob IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I'd like to try to replicate the effect here so I want to ask how you are doing the recording. Is this from a DiskRecorder Sound placed on a single timebar in the Timeline? Or did you record by selected Record to disk from the Action menu? Or are you recording the output of Kyma in DP? Or some other scenario? Thanks! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Ah, sorry I forgot that part; I am recording to disk via the Action menu. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() To further explain my process: first I record a part (for example, a bass line) in Digital Performer with a soft synth; I then freeze that MIDI track, giving me an audio sample; I trim the sample in Kyma, and then import it as the sample in the Sound being used in the Timeline; that processed Sound is what is recorded to disk. ![]() ![]() ![]() What kind of processing are you doing to the track? Some processes introduce a delay to the audio signal... IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm not at my little studio at the moment, so I'll get the deets to you manana (I hope). Thanks, Bob IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Finally back. The latency problem has occured in a fairly simple Sound: a Filter fed a Mixer, which in turn is fed by two branches: one a Time Offset fed by a Sample Cloud; the other brance a Memory Writer fed by a Generic Source (where I have the bass loop). Now, I have recorded other Timelines without any latency problem when importing the resulting sound file into Digital Performer, so maybe it's something to do with the sample.... IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Could you try removing the TimeOffset Sound? It may not be necessary and is could be the cause of the delay between your input and the output. IP: Logged |
