![]() ![]() ![]() Can SSC comment on the quality of the AD/DA converters on the capybara? How do they compare to an outboard unit such as a Troisi or apoggee converter? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Chuck If I compare the converters, I've heard converters from dCS and Apogee, if money is no object go for dC$$$ and for the other companies it's a matter of taste. Most of the time it's like "the reputation of the brand name," "the convenience features," or "what I read in a review." And my answer to the Capy 320 is strikingly concise: "The sound." And that's what it is all about...The sound. Armand. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: I would actually place the converters in the Kyma in a different catagory than the DCS; The DCS sounds much more colored to me than the Kyma. Kyma sounds more like a Prism in that both sound relitively "precise", and tend to go toward exactly reproducing the input signal rather than coloring it. I am not saying that the Kyma's sound as nice as the Prism. Then again, the Prism costs more for an 8 ch A/D/A as an 8 channel Kyma which, of course, includes quite a lot of unbelieveabley acessable DSP power along with those 8 channels of A/D/A.
