Hi forum

I was just wondering what is the real meaning of Density parameter in Graincloud and SampleCloud. It has a direct relationship with number of grains right? If I want to shoot 2 grains per second: max grains 2 and density 1.0? Or...? Is so wonderful this Sound ;-)

Many thanks

It is probabilistic so there is not an exact correspondence between Density and the number of grains per second. Internally it is using

!Density ** 3

as threshold. It generates a random number between 0 and 1. If that random number is greater than !Density cubed, then it starts a grain. The random numbers are generated at the sample rate. But a new grain will only be started if MaxGrains are not already playing.

Hi SSC

Thanks for the reply.
Is that I am reading Microsound by Curtis Roads and want to implement some of the experiences refered in the book in Kyma language. I will post some useful results of this lecture (i hope).

Creative regards
