One place to start would be on page 152 of the manual--the tutorial on morphing. And page 177 on MIDI Timing Clock. Or go to the File menu, select Documentation, and then do a search on "morphing" and on "timing clock".

Another recommendation: when doing a spectral analysis of a drum loop, first make a recording of three times through the drum loop, and analyze that version. Then go into the spectrum editor and cut the first and last iterations (leaving only the middle one). This will give you a more time-accurate loopable spectrum.

If your doing drum loops then you probably won't be able to do a harmonic type of analysis and therefore you won't need to trace the fundemental. This being the case you might as well do live analysis/resynth (processor power permitting).

This will give a form of morphing but if you want the best results you should get hold of the drums as seperate elements and deal with each transition seperatly. This way you could even morph between differing rythyms by doing non realtime analysis and manipulating the index. This is like a programable fast changing time stretch/compress.

Morphing is not just about slowly changing timbres , it is also about changing and lineing up tempos , pitches and even formants.

let me know how you get on.
