hi there.

Did some experimenting today, and wanted to try and do simple pulse width modulation in Kyma. Was digging all around but with no success, since all oscilators seem to be sample dependant.

thanks for any input

PulseTrain has a dutyCycle control.

Also, on the Oscillator, if you use Square as the waveform, and !Formant in the Formant field, you can vary the width of the square. (You can use Info>Oscilloscope to see the waveshape)

oook got it, thanks for that nice heads up.

btw, I forgot to add question b) in the original topic, which is oscillator sync.I knew/know how to do it in Reaktor, but I suspect it is because it was on a higher modular level.Kyma is more low level and of course you need to understand whats going on in osc sync, which obviously I dont :$

I recommend using Formant for a non-aliasing form of oscillator sync. If you literally reset the phase to 0, you will get aliasing due to the discontinuity in the waveform.

didgeri.kym

I'm just a beginner myself and trying to create 2 square oscillators where the first FM's the second using frequency modulation.

The first also needs to sync the second.

This is the start of recreating a didgeridoo patch from my modular. It needs still a lot of other modulation but I didn't understand the comment about using formant. I read the help on formant field in the OSC and it seemed to make the OSC read through it's wavetable faster.

Instead I used "reset" field on second OSC using this formula.

(1 repeatingRamp: !KeyPitch)

Any tips would be appreciated. While I understand the concepts on my modular, sometimes it's hard to translate to the Kyma world. For example, using a SAW waveform with this delay line to produce the squares is really cool but non-intuitive to me.

Hi Sean, I have a 12u, 84hp wide Eurorack with assorted modules. The Oscillator I used in the patch I am recreating is a Cwejman VCO-2RM. I'm not trying to make a perfect recreation but I am using this as a teaching exercise for myself. I would like to be able to recreate concepts I discover there in Kyma or at least become as familiar at doing subtractive in Kyma as I am on my modular.

Wow thanks! That worked awesome using formant.

Woot! Getting some great results now. I really feel like I've cracked through to the next level. Elation!

This sounds incredible, truly liquid sound. Love it.
