In the current issue of AUDIO MEDIA I read that you showed ASIO drivers for Kyma at the AES in LA. When will they be available?

Frank.

We are currently beta testing an audio-out-only ASIO driver for the Macintosh. We hope to have audio in and Windows versions in the next month or two.

Will the ASIO drivers allow us to use the Capy I/O w/ another application while Kyma is running ?

Yes, for example you can do things like routing sound from Cubase out through the Capybara converters. And if you happen to have a Sound (like granular reverb for instance) running on your Capy, then the Cubase output is processed through the granular reverb before going to the Capy outputs.

This sounds like a very good development indeed. How many channels will your ASIO driver support?

Will the ASIO-driver support all Capybaras? I have a Capy-66, and the ASIO-driver sounds like a mighty fine addition to my system.

If we are already using another asio interface with cubase , would we have to disable that interface to send sound through the cappy, as cubase can only talk to one asio device at a time ?

thanks

The current beta is for Macintosh and supports 4 channels output. We are working on the version for PC and on support for 8 outputs. Yes, it should work on both the Capy-66 and the 320. Until Cubase can talk to more than one ASIO driver, then yes, you have to choose which one you want to use and disable the other one.

This ASIO driver is excellent news - can't wait to try it.
Any news on the pitch granulator (granulating live input) front?

This is really good news. I have been looking for ways of compressing my studio onto a G3 laptop, but I feel the G3 400 is already busy enough with Kyma (sometimes the screen redraws slow down a lot) for the addition of a USB audio I/O, and I have been concerned about the quality of such devices anyway. The option is a Digigram card, but of course the PC card slot is already taken up by the Capy. I am a bit concerned about the PC card bandwidth being to busy to cope with other audio out - any comments on that?? If we also had input, then I could use Logic Platinum to compile things and control MIDI while running the Capy doing the cool things - sounds good to me.
