I now have to decide to use a Kyma only solution or do the main interface and preset management parts in 3rd party software like Lemur or MaxMSP.

So I was investigating in the Edit Tool and there came up a few questions which i would really like to know.

1. There are no Rotary, Potentiometer or Panpot widgets available in a Tool... is that right? If there are really none of them....is there a plan to include the standard VCS widgets and others in the future?

2. Maybe is it possible to create my own widgets or graphs on a view with smalltalk?

3. Is it possible from a Tool to access presets of a sounds several VCS Layouts? ... like change, write(with name),delete presets?

4. Is it possible to access markers and layouts of a timeline... or jump to markers/layout of a timeline via a tool.

Any Tips and hinds would be really appreciated.

Would it be possible to create an audio editor, somewhere between the Kyma sample editor and the TAU?

This spurred many more questions, the most relevant being;

Was the TAU created with the Tools Editor?

Lots of time saving features could be packed into such a creation. Who is up for having a go at it? I can provide endless enthusiasm and motivational speeches.

Not now. But it would make sense to include the same kinds of widgets as are in the VCS.

You can create the graphic for it, but it would not have a controller. You probably already saw in Kyma X Revealed how to make the graphics, right?

Yes. That is not in the book, but we could tell you how to do that if you decide to go ahead.

Okay. If the above feature will take a long time i would go for my own displays first. Maybe there is a reverence/documentation of all the smallTalk classes/messages for graphics which are supported in Kyma?

I will create some display only elements. I will try to get the tool "as mouse free as possible" with MIDI controllers and OSC messages as input devices ... so displays would work as an workaround at first.

Super! That was the major point why i was hesitating. If it is possible to access/rename/write/delete presets from different Layouts in a sound via a Tool...the first thing i will start is to write a kind of "Preset Management Tool"! ... And i already know one person who would love this Tool ;-)

Yes, you could do that by sending !ProgramNumber. You could also do that directly.[/QUOTE]
Yes. I've already done that with !ProgramNumber in the "Looping" Timeline i send you a while ago..What would be the direct way?

p.s: By the way... did you figure out how to fix the clock problem we discovered in the live looping timeline? (We worked around that with a delay and an so shifted alignWith)..

I decided to try the Kyma way and actually it started to make real fun.
I already sketched out some simple custom graphic elements in VisualWorks and will try to port them to the kyma tool. I found no reference except the ones in the Kyma Tool chapter of what messages are supported by "Kyma smallTalk" but i tried to keep it as simple as possible at first.

Your answer to my above question was quite promising.

So maybe if you have the time you can give me a short reference of messages, tricks or hints how to access/manage VCS preset data from a Tool...
