Author | Topic: BPM extraction failing |

![]() ![]() ![]() I am meticulously walking through the Kyma walkthrough and came across an anomoly on page 56, in the part about "Setting the value of BPM based on the duration of a sample." I understand what is supposed to happen here, but I am unable to make this example work. I get an extra dialog after I choose the BPM parameter, asking me how much of the envelope I want to extract. (This dialog is not mentioned in the description on page 56.) The time units in the dialog are a little goofed up when I am in beats-and-bars mode (as opposed to timecode mode, which seems to display fine), but whatever mode I am in, and whatever I type there, I cannot seem to extract a reasonable value of BPM. I tried other of those drum beat samples with similarly unsatisfying effects. I seem not to be able to get a consistent value, sometimes I get .23, sometimes I get 3.0, sometimes I get something in the thousands. Not sure what's happening. I did notice that the sound browser was reporting all those sample files as "damaged." So I clicked the little recycle arrow in the upper right corner of the sound browser, and after the refresh it gave reasonable values for the sample file data, but still the BPM extraction wouldn't behave. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry, a change made to the code after the Walkthrough was finished caused this to work differently than described. This (the code) will be fixed in the next update (which will be announced in the Eighth Nerve and will be downloadable from the website). Thanks for reporting it! IP: Logged |
