In the Kyma Prototypes there is the "CSound Score to MIDI Script" Sound. The Sound generates musical notes from values listed in the b1.txt file. Instead of having the Sound playing all the musical notes as a composition, I would like the Sound to record the musical notes (belonging to a selected instrument, say "i 1", for example) as separate files, perhaps naming them after their keyDown value. Any chance someone could help me with a working example that I could experiment with? Hopefully.... Robert [This message has been edited by robertjarvis (edited 11 May 2013).] IP: Logged |

Hi, Just wondering how complicated it would be to achieve what I asked above....? [This message has been edited by robertjarvis (edited 08 August 2013).] IP: Logged |

Hi Robert, You want to record an audio file for each note, correct? Not a MIDI file with the note information, correct? For recording the individual audio files, I would replace the MIDIVoice with a Script that reads and interprets the file in a similar way but then starts up an instance of the input (rather than sending a self keyDownAt:). The input to the Script would be a DiskRecorder with your desired Sound as its input. The FileName of the DiskRecorder would be a question mark variable so you can set it from the Script. You will need a SetDuration on your Sound so you can set a limit on the duration of each note. Hope this is enough to get it started. Feel free to ask more questions if they arise. Thank you. I'll also have a look to see if there is anything similar amongst all the Kyma Sounds that I could have a look at and play with as I enjoy the "learning through fiddling about" approach more than the "creating from scratch" school of learning!!.... And, are you saying that it would also be possible to turn the, say, "CSound Score to MIDI Script" Sound into an MIDI file that could be read in another programme? (I guess that would be more complicated). I'll be looking forward to OpenLab at KISS2013!!! IP: Logged |
