I hope this is the last query I'll need to make before wrapping up this particular project. This is also to do with my ersatz Wavestation Sound I've been constructing. You can get it here: http://www.theelectronicgarden.com/Scot/WaveState.zip (it's 30 MB, so too big to upload to the forum) It would probably be best to look at the "WaveState" Sound rather than the slightly imposing "DualWaveState" version. What I have is a sequencer controlling wave indices, AR stage, filter, etc to do wave sequencing, ala the Wavestation. Therefore the Sequencer Gate is assigned to "!KeyDown" so that the sequencer plays and loops whenever a key is played and held. This is just as it should be. However, I would also like to be able to add a switch to shut the sequencer off - but not the keyboard control over the rest of the path. In other words, I want to be able to also play a static sampler, ROMpler-style without engaging the sequencer. I thought this would be as easy as simply adding a hot value to the Sequencer's Gate field, but alas, it did not do the job. it shut the sequencer down, but did not trigger the oscillator/envelopes, etc. Have I left the path of reason? Or am I missing something obvious? I suspect it has to do with all of the oscillators being controlled by envelopes that are tied to the Extra Values in the Sequencer, but I don't want any of that to be sacrificed. I want it to work as it does now, but also have the choise of simply playing a selected, looped or one-shot sample. I imagine that this non-sequenced version could be controlled by step one of the sequencer. But I have been known to let my imagination get the better of me... (Also, don't be too put off by the crazy VCS. When I am finished with this mess, I will upload for all of my fellow Kymatics, but will include a readme with wave files lists and explanations of any peculiarities). IP: Logged

Would it work to create a parallel MIDIVoice on the Sound? Then you could use SelectableSound to select either MIDIVoice (keyboard control) or AnalogSequencer (sequencer control). Would that do what you are describing? No, probably not since it would not stick on the current waveform... [This message has been edited by SSC (edited 07 August 2013).] IP: Logged

Thanks for the quick response. Right, I had thought of that, but I was holding out hope that I was missing something obvious and someone would tell me what an idiot I am and "of course, you forgot that you could...(_fill in with something ridiculously simple_)" ![]() In all honesty, it isn't really crucial... it's not as if my patch isn't convoluted enough already. I was only thinking that it'd be nice to layer the wavesequence with a more traditional ROMpler-type sound. However, your response confirms what I was thinking was the probable path to take and it is setting my mind on to yet another tangent... back to it. After mowing the lawn. Argh! IP: Logged

Perhaps this would work? IP: Logged

That seems to simply loop the step, without "holding" the note so that the sound plays through its own embedded loop points. Actually, another question has come up. For some reason, my Sound no longer seems to recognize samples above number 117. I added 33 more last night and changed the relevant index parameters, and, in fact, the sound was working perfectly when I awoke this morning. That "Collage" preset in the WaveState Sound is made up mostly of samples above index number 117, but most of those steps are only playing 117. I made that preset this morning, but upon re-opening the Sound, it doesn't play properly. Nothing I can do seems to be able to change that. IP: Logged

Okay, this is strange. I restarted Kyma a couple of times and still had the same problem - no waves above index 117 would play. I went away for a while, had a think and a minor household crisis, returned and decided that the only thing different was having downloaded the above file. I removed it and lo and behold, it worked again. But it gets stranger: I re-downloaded the above file and everything was still hunky dory. Maybe my initial download was somehow corrupted. I don't know, but I'd sure like to know if you could access any of the samples beyond number 117 on the version I uploaded. Would it be too much trouble to check that out for me? IP: Logged |
