Hello All -

I've been pondering my setup, as I am anxious to hook up outs 3 & 4. It looks like this new box from Tascam might just be the Cat's Pajamas. It has 8 outs, for L&R plus 5.1. It's Firewire and can do multi-channel digital I/O. Motorized faders & and it has 4 MIDI ins and 4 MIDI outs to boot! Sounds like just the right box to compliment the Kyma. It will be expandable (up to 128 faders) with the release of the 8 motorized-fader sidecar.

Comments? Does this sound as cool as I think it does?

Yes, it is! I bought one yesterday and hooked it all up and it just worked. The FireWire card I have has 3 inputs so I have Kyma hanging off one and the 1884 off the other. I use them both at the same time with no problems.

The 1884 acts as a control surface - I use it for SOnar. I would like to program it to control Kyma much like the MotorMix. I know I can use a special map to, uh, map controller numbers to names, but I would like to do a deeper integration. Is there a particular place in the docs where this is outlined?
