hi, been having a great session with kyma tonight with a guitarist friend of mine from san fran (christopher willits)... been doing some great kyma stuff... adn really enjoying the difference between using the "silent" button both checked and unchecked with the memory writer...

it would be really cool to have the "silent" button be available in the VCS.. so you can basically switch between effect only, and input+effect.. i assume this could be done by making separate signal paths..? but, would it be the same as it would by using the "silent" button?

am i making sense?

maybe there's a way... thanks.

You could place an Attenuator at the output of the MemoryWriter and put !Silent in the Attenuator's Left and Right parameters. When you play the Sound the first time, edit the VCS and change the !Silent fader into a toggle.

but wouldn't that cut the volume of memory writer overall? the way i understand the silent button is that when it's checked, you only hear the RESULTS of the memory writer, ie: the memory player (sample)... and when it's unchecked, you hear the input PLUS the results.

oh, wait, the memory player (eg: sample) is a separate module... so, if the output of the memory writer was attenuated, it doesn't mean the output of the memory PLAYER is muted.. right?

now i get it..

ahh.. kyma. thank you!
