Is there a way to sync a Timeline to midi clock instead of midi time code?

I'm using Ableton Live 9 on Mac #1 sending midi clock out through a Unitor 8 MK2 to the midi input of a Motu Ultralite MK3 which is being used by the Pacarana and Kyma which is running on Mac #2

The problem being that Ableton will only transmit Midi Clock, not Midi time code.

I tried using the Unitor to send LTC to Kyma but that won't work as I'm running Live instead of Logic.

Hello

You can route timing clock to your timeline and kyma can recognize it , however, timing clock doesn't transmit any location information. As a result, the timeline will not start, stop and synchronize w Live automatically.

If that is your only alternative for timing & location information you will need to manually start the timeline and plan some form of trigger within the sound that is triggered from a midi clip in live. ie if you have a sound on your timeline that has a gate field you could use !keypitch nn eq:1, then send midi nn 1 from the midi clip in live when you want the sound to actually start.

Hi,

Thank you kindly for the reply, and I'm definitely going to try the triggering example that you suggest both as a solution and as a learning experience. But being able to start, stop and synchronize the timeline with Live automatically is important to me.

I'm able to do this very successfully with my Eurorack modular sequencers from Live via Expert Sleeper's Silent Way plugins by sending both a Clock CV and a Run CV, I think if I can figure out how to get Kyma to track both of these CV signals I might have a solution.

Can you reverse the process and send midi clock from kyma 's time line into Live and have kyma be the master? I cant remember off hand if Kyma timeline can be the master - perhaps someone else can chime in.

Or

could you run live as a rewire into logic and bus the midi clock from logic and simply hide the logic sequencer window and just use its transport control window as a master transport?
