Hello All, 'Download the beta Kyma FireWire Interface firmware supporting AV/C audio on the Macintosh 21 December 2007' A few questions.... a) I assume the following release of KFIF 11 April 2007 does not include the AV/C support?!? OOOOO no no no, there was never a problem with the timing, in-fact I would say Kyma feels incredibly quick and stable compared to many midi hardware synths, it was merely just a question/discussion point from a technical angle, as for some creative applications I like to trigger gates on a sample accurate basis. (which is not possible via conventional midi!?! because of the timing jitter!?!) I was wondering if sending the midi down the FW is a step towards this. Many thanks for just being there. Sadly, the MIDI over FireWire spec requires that you quantize to MIDI rate, so it is not an improvement in timing accuracy.  (MIDI-like messages using OSCulator and FireWire Continuum are another matter, though!) IP: Logged |
