I thought I was being clever by using this construct in the Samples field of the Multisample object: {'A metal 01n' sampleFileNamesInSameFolder}

However, if I delete a file out of that directory, Multisample still plays it. I've tried everything I can think of - including "rest environment" and "initialize DSP" - nothing works.

How do you make Multisample re-scan that directory?

(btw - That same construct is correctly re-evaluated in the Index field of Multisample.)

Hi Bill,

Please try clicking the Recycle button in the Status window (that should clear any caches that might still be around on the Smalltalk side). If the deleted file continues to show up in your MultiSample, then the explanation might be that there is another folder with the same name somewhere on your disk which still contains the file. If that is the case, then you could change the name of one of the files in your modified folder to 'A metal 01nX' and then use:
{'A metal 01nX' sampleFileNamesInSameFolder}
to ensure that you always get the desired folder.

Alternatively, you could use the full path name instead of just the file name. (You can get most of the full path from the lower part of the Sound Browser; if you widen the window you can even copy the filename and paste it into your parameter field expression. Or you could use Get Info in the finder. OR you could put 'A metal 01n' in the Sample field of a regular Sample module, then shift+click on the disk icon to get all the info on that file and copy/paste the pathname from there).
