Author | Topic: Synching Pro Tools to Capy |
Cliff White Member |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm having a bear of a time getting these guys to talk S/PDIF. I've verifed the Pro Tools settings by synching the Pro Tools to a Pod Pro. When I connect to the Capy (and of course change to S/PDIF) Pro Tools complains that a valid clock cannot be found. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Ya'll. ![]() ![]() ![]() someone has to be clock master. i don´t quite understand. you mean connecting the spdif out of your PT with the digital in of the capy doesn´t work? did you set capy´s sync reference to digital-in? frank. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() All you said is correct except I want to go out of the Capy to the Digi001 (Pro Tools). Since the Digi001 does not generate a clock, I want to use the Capybara's. I could squeeze 2 more tracks without having to rearrange cables whenever I want to use the Capybara (or whichever device is not currently plugged in) Thanks, Cliff [This message has been edited by Cliff White (edited 25 April 2001).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() do you maybe have a clock feedback loop? it would be there if you connect capy-out to pt-in and pt-out to capy-in at the same time. then capy tries to clock on pt, and pt tries to clock on capy. doesn´t work. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() It's ONLY one way: Capy out to PT in. Thanks. [This message has been edited by Cliff White (edited 26 April 2001).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Cliff, please try telling the Capybara to output in AES/EBU mode (using the DSP status panel) and let us know whether PT seems to understand that better. Thanks. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: Could it be your cable? I had trouble getting the Capy to work in AES/EBU mode until I sprang for expensive specialty cables (all my other gear was happy with mic cables.) I also have other equipment that is cable sensitive on the S/PDIF side. (Lack of clocks is usually the symptom.) Cliff - I'm in Austin, too. Drop me an email if you want to talk Kyma sometime. mrbill@jump.net IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hey, I got it!!!! I changed to AES/EBU in which Pro Tools indicated there was a clock. Then it bounced again. I secured the cables, the synch bounced about 10 times and now it seems to work!! Joy! Rock is soon to follow. Thanks, ya'll!!! IP: Logged |
