BellQuartet2.zip

Hi all

I am using the attached sound in a quartet for singing bells. I have some reed switch triggers setup to allow us to control the buffer recording triggers (we have a small magnet taped to a finger) - however, I have tried this using CC's and MIDI notes and doen;t seem to get the responce from the patch I expect - I would welcome your suggestions

Thanks, Garth

Hi Garth, Could you please give us a verbal description of how you expect the buffer recordings to behave? Thanks!

Yes, sure, I am expecting to replace the contents of the buffer when the trigger is positive with a new 4sec recording of the incoming signal, which will form a file called rec01, rec02, rec03, rec04 depending on the input channel and the trigger.

The recorded buffers then become the source fot the micro-delay manipulation while we continue to play over the top of that.

Does that help??? Garth

A couple of things to try:
* Try removing the ForcedProcessorAssignment to processor 1 (while leaving the others alone). I noticed (using DPS Status) that there was too much getting scheduled on processor 1 and it was running out of realtime when it didn't have to.

* I noticed that there are SoundToGlobalControllers pasted directly into the Trigger fields of the MemoryWriters, for example !BellTwo is generating !fader2. I tried putting !fader2 *directly* into the Trigger field and it seems to work better that way.

Please give these things a try and let us know whether it is working as expected. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll check them out - just about to go away for a few days...

re the SoundToGlobalControllers - I used these to ensure:
1. That the button on the GUI was visable during performance so we have feedback that we have actually triggered the recording
2. The triggers are MIDI inputs from Reed Switches, which we place on the music stands with the singing bowls so we can easilly trigger recording when playing the bowls.

If I place !Fader01/02/03/04 directly into the trigger field then surely I would need to trigger the record manually on the GUI, or are you suggesting placing the SoundToGlobalControllers into a mixer somewhere else in the sound and just calling the variable they control directly in the buufer record?

Cheers
Garth
