Dear Kyma Users,

I am proud to announce OSCulator 2.0.
I recommend the use of Kyma X.44 and the 070317 AV/C firmware. You can stil use the older firmware (non AV/C) if you need compatibility with the Continuum.

Also, please wait a little bit, new Sounds will ship for specific use with the Wiimote!

To download OSCulator 2.0, please go to the (new) website, here: http://www.osculator.net

New Features:
- Nintendo Wiimote support!!!
- MIDI Control Changes!!!
- Actions toggle enable/disable/solo
- Possibility to put the main window on top, like a floating tool

Changes:
- Keycode Helper now shows a menu with a list of all opened applications. When an application is selected, Keystrokes are sent to that application only, even if it is hidden.
- Range column is no longer displayed
- Range calibration is no longer possible
- Preferences have been reorganized
- Activity monitoring (red lights) has been optimized
- File format changed and results in files of smaller size. You can still open older files.
- Kyma Related:
- In Kyma, you can now change the parameters mappings directly from the VCS (070317 AV/C firmware only).
- Now the Flame interface is automatically discovered, and is 'hot-pluggable'.
- The 'Capybara' logo is only displayed when a connection to the Flame has been successfully done.
- The Flame driver has been greatly enhanced and is compatible with all firmwares.

For fun, here's a link to a video showing some of the ways you could use the Wiimote->OSCulator in Kyma:

* Wiimote/OSCulator/Kyma video (Large)

* Wiimote/OSCulator/Kyma video (Small)

Fabulous thanks - love your examples Carla - no patches linked on Tweaky though. I have been using Wii Remote in Max/MSP for a bit - great fun, and it has quite a good range so you can work off stage to start things which is fun also. Are you also indicating that the Numchuck has an accelerometer? Had not noticed that - will have to check it out.

Thanks heaps - more interfacing fun, Garth

Fantastic controller implementation Carla, Kurt & Camille!

Now there exits a unique method to synchronize, in real-time, Kyma sounds with the motion physics of objects visualized within a 3D graphic development environment.

The path of computer music animation continues to evolve.

Wiimote -> OSCulator -> Kyma

Wiimote -> DarwiinRemote -> Unity -> Multi-Platform Distributed A/V Media

hmmm, why is there a need to use DarwiinRemote???
Isn't OSC/Kyma more than enough?
In the following version of OSCulator there will be an access to the OSC messages that the "Wiimote to OSC" bridge produces.

Further to the idea of using Wii-mote gestures to control both Kyma and 3D graphics software at the same time, here are a couple more links to some graphics software packages with Wii-mote control (some of these run under Windows). If you hear about any others, please add them to the list:

BTW, I think that OSCulator can also translate Wii controller data to MIDI output.

The OSCulator is by far the best, most flexible of all the solutions out there - yes it also outputs midi cc'c - looking forward to it also sending OSC - I for one did not know the
numchuck had an accelerometer until OSCulator listed it, and I have been using the Wii remote since Christmas

Hi Camille

I am finding when sending MIDI CC's to MAX/MSP, that if I turn on any of the /wii/1/numchuck/accel esentially disables the Joystick /wii/1/numchuck/joy[0] - when these are both on, shaking the Numchuck left-to-right causes output on the MIDI CC associated with joy[0].

Having some fun :-))

Garth

It's nice to hear how much fun everybody is having with the wii! I haven't had a chance to play with one yet, but will probably get one soon.

In the meantime, I finally got my hands on a Lemur! I am just taking my first steps in using it to control Kyma through OSCulator, but the possibilities seem really amazing, and I'm quite excited about it.

Thanks Camille for developing this great software, and thanks to SSC for continuing to make Kyma so awesome!

Cheers,

Hector
