Dear OSCulator users,

A new version of OSCulator is available today.
You will be able to use up to four Wiimotes at once in the same document. A couple of annoying bugs have also been corrected.

I'd like to warmly thank everyone that expressed their interest in that project!

Best Regards,
Camille

Oh, by the way, I just thought it would be fun to make a ping-pong sound that would use two wiimotes ... or any sound that would enable two performers to play together and influence other's playing ...

Hi Camille,
I took the plunge today and purchased a Wiimote - but unfortunately it's not proving very easy get to work.
I get the message Wii Connection. Error ocurred.

However, however the various Addresses (e.g. /wii/1/accel/pry [0] ) the wiimote address & the Battery level are present but the Wii logo isn't there (I saw it briefly.)

using 'top' it appears OSCulator is only using 0.2%CPU - So I'm wondering what the problem is. i even 'renice'd the OSCulator process to see if that would help

Using an iMac G5 2MHz with 2GB RAM btw.

Any other workarounds I could try?

Actually, it turns out my Wiimote *is* connected - due to the error message and lack of a WII logo I thought it was broken - or perhaps there's a little bug in there somewhere in the G5 compilation code?
I did a quick test with Ableton Live and it worked. Will try out with Kyma and the new sounds when I get back to my place. [Using a neighbours internet connection! ]

Hi Photonal,

Connecting the Wiimote can be as easy as it can be cumbersome.
Acutally, the current Bluetooth implementation in Mac OS X is having problem with devices that simulate a HID compliant hardware, like the Wiimote (but it is not HID compliant, just faking, hence the problems). Appart from that problem, connecting should be easy and straigthforward.

Could you write me to camille@osculator.net so that I can help you troubleshoot the connection problems? You can also try to catch me on iChat (or give me a meeting date), my login is tuscland@mac.com.

Best,
Camille

will do Camille,

btw, i checked the cpu usage again and it was waivering between 15 & 25%.
Running parallel with Kyma on the iMac is unfortunately really slow.

Takes me back to the days of running Kyma 4 together with Cubase on a Power Macintosh 8600 with PowerPC 604!
