![]() ![]() ![]() In the Kyma Walkthrough, in the section concerning recording a timeline to disk, a scenario is presented wherein a timeline is produced using a speaker configuration different from the final delivery configuration, and it is suggested that you can change your speaker placement in the Kyma preferences, and then record sound files for speakers that you don't have. So I decided to try it. I had already recorded my timeline in stereo, so I knew that worked. Its about a minute, so I get a couple 5 meg samples files. Then I switched my preferences to reflect a Quad setup, and tried to record all four channels to disk. After asking me to name the four files, Kyma reported that I didn't have enough disk to record my samples files, that I needed a little over 2 gig of disk, and had a little less than that available. Actually, I need only about 20 meg, and there's almost 17 gig free on that disk. It turns out that I can record the channels two at a time to disk, but cannot do three or four at a time without getting that report that I need a little over 2 gig and have a little less. My machine is a Dual G4 533 with 640 meg of RAM, and the disk in question in a 18 gig Cheetah (SCSI-2 ULVD) running off a Miles2 (Initio) card. OS 9.1 Any other useful information I can provide? -kel IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for letting us know! This was a problem that we thought we had corrected, but evidently it has come back for our pleasure ![]() IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm having troubles recording 4 outputs too. I have a sound that produces quadraphonic output by using a fixed 4 ch. matrix prototype as a last module. When I want to record this to disk, I can only choose between mono or stereo; recording 4 mono files is not possible. When I drag my sound into the timeline, I do not have a quad output either. The loudspeaker setup in the preferences is set to quad, and the timeline is set to have 4 output channels. When I select the track in the timeline to have output in ch 1 to 4, I get a double stereo result instead of the true quad output I get when I just compile the sound. Could somebody tell me what I do wrong? Regards, Kees IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Kees -- There is no easy way to record the matrix output Sounds. You can record the quad version of your Sound's inputs in one of two ways: 1. If you are using the StereoInOutput4 module as the final module, drag a DiskRecorder module in line with each of the inputs (between the input and the StereoInOutput4). Set the DiskRecorders to make stereo files. 2. If you are using the Output4 module as the final module, drag a DiskRecorder in line with each of the four inputs. Set the DiskRecorders to make mono files. Alternatively, you could place each input Sound into its own track in the timeline, and then use the Level controls to replicate what you had in the matrix (you may need to employ submixes). Then you can record the timeline to disk and get all four channels. IP: Logged |
