howtoclear.zip

I'm having trouble with the attached Sound. It is a variant of Ed Egan's Endless Sea that I have been using in a Timeline.

I need a way to clear the two MemoryWriter buffers before starting to play. The attached file shows how I did this. The Sound named "Compiles fine from here" was the original last Sound and this works fine by itself and in my Timeline with three other Sounds running simultaneously.

If I try to compile with my additioins, I run out of realtime. I have three expansion cards and it looks like little or no activity is happening on DSP 1-5, everything is piled up on 6-9. (In fact, this happens a lot - I wonder if the compiler can't take proper advantage of the odd number of cards?)

I know my Timeline is pretty full, so it may never work there, but is seems like this should be able to compile by itself.

(This is an example of why the MemoryWriter needs to have a 'prezero' option like the delay lines.)

No, this is just an artifact of the way the display looks when the Capybara has run out of real time. If the "Out of realtime" message is displayed, the actual processor usage display is no longer accurate.

Is there anything in the timeline that you could cache, Bill? That might free up some cycles.
