![]() ![]() ![]() Is there a way to insert an external device into a Kyma sound, e.g. like the FX insert of mixing consoles? The prototypes of category Outputs have a comment, that they only work correct as the rightmost element of a sound. What I am searching for is a prototype with selectable output (first) and input (afterwards) channels for integrating e.g. an external analogue filter into a sound. Maybe another suggestion for a new prototype? IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() ah, ok. reading your post again. well, i like your idea with that insert prototype. but who´s going first in priority then? the output or the insert prototype? what if they´re used simultaniously? IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() You might be able to do this with a Timeline. Let's say that you have it set up like this: Capy out 1&2 ---> left & right speakers Then in the Timeline, you could have In Out Sound If this is a static setup and you're not changing the input or effects, you could put a WaitUntil in one of the tracks so it will last forever (or until you get tired of it, whichever comes first) IP: Logged

![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks a lot for Your answers. I tried all three suggestions. Here my comments/experiences: Mathis: insert.kym doesn't work in my Kyma system. It doesn't compile&load. When I open the sound, I get an "Unhandled exception: Undefined Name in BOSS file: Level" and a lot of error trace comments. SSC: using timelines works fine, but I see two disadvantages. On the one hand to me timelines seem to be very hungry in increased consumption of DSP power. On the other hand in certain cases the handling is not straightforward (e.g. if I want to replace in an existing sound the Kyma filter by an external analogue filter, I am forced to totally redesign the complete sound, splitting it up into two sounds and and and ...). But this timeline way is a very smart and easy solution if You have already distinct sounds, which You want to combine through an external device. John: fine upload. Interesting, this is almost that sort of prototype I imagined (with exception of the fixed assignment of aux input/output to the same channel; but this is no concern). It works well, although I guess to hear a little attenuation. A quick replacement inside an existing sound is possible; usage is straightforward. Now I wonder why this prototype has disappeared from Kyma.5 ??? IP: Logged |
