I guess this is a feature request, for a couple of "from MemoryWriter" checkboxes in GrainCloud.

I'd like to be able to alter in realtime the Waveform and GrainEnv in a Graincloud, much as I can read a sample from a cycling MemoryWriter in SampleCloud. Unfortunately, SampleCloud is missing some of the parameters that GrainCloud has...

The only way I can think of to get what I'm looking for is to set up multiple GrainClouds with desired Waveform and GrainEnv samples loaded, and crossfade between them. But of course this uses more cpu.

Are is there something I'm overlooking?

Phil

actually you can do this already as long the MemoryWriter is run in parallel to the GrainCloud sound.

some of this is covered in this thread: http://www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=displayprivate&number=7&topic=000193

Thanks! It does seem to work. I do remember seeing that thread a couple of weeks ago when I didn't have time to check it out, but I forgot the last part where it does read from memory writers.

it does work for when the memory writer is parallel to the where it is being read from. this actually works for most all file fields throughout kyma. the "from memory writer" is necessary when creating a recursive process, eg feedback networks.
