kyma has never crashed on me before.. but lately, it's been crashing once per session... on a fairly regular basis..

it seems to have happened after installing the LCK update, along with pete's DSPs and the combined DSP that green tea made available with the LCK update.

anybody have any words of wisdom on this?

kyma is so solid, it seems strange to have it crash! help!

You've made a lot of changes all at once, so perhaps the first step could be to isolate the problem:
When you say "crash" do you mean that the Capybara stops responding? Or that the mouse stops responding?
Is there a correlation between playing specific Sounds and experiencing the "crash"? If so, then can you try opening the signal flow graph and playing one at a time from left to right to see if there is a specific Sound that causes the crash.
Could you try simplifying the problem by installing only one of the microsound sets at a time (rather than the combined set)?
Thanks.

hi,

sorry i wasn't more specific... by "crash" i mean kyma just unexpectedly quits. at first i thought it was macintosh Sleep related.. but, i ruled that out..

sometimes it would crash, and i'd relaunch it, and then after it gets part way through loading, it would crash again. then i'd relaunch it and it would work fine for a bit.

for what it's worth, since i posted this orignal thread, i have removed the user microsounds classes file (the latest from LCK) from my kyma program folder, and kyma has been running for about 2-3 hours without a crash... (the computer has gone to sleep in that time)... so, it might be the microsound file.

i'll continue to keep kyma open this evening, and using it, and see if i get a crash...

hi dennis (& SCC)

yes, kyma continued to function fine all day and night after i had taken the microsound files out.. so i think that was the problem.

however, i did not have this problem with the FIRST version of LCK..

it's probably some sort of installation problem, or isolated problem on my end, but, dennis, just for your information.. my system is the following:

Mac dual 1ghz MDD G4 OSX 10.2.6 and OS9.2.2 (for kyma)
1.25gig RAM

if you could tell me all of the names/locations of the files that the new LCK installed... i will go find and remove them.. and then reinstall it cleanly....

is it only the microsound file?

thanks

It is extremely *unlikely* that the LCK microsounds could have caused Kyma to quit as you describe. Perhaps we should take this discussion into email between Greentea, Taylor and SSC to solve the mystery.
