![]() ![]() ![]() I have after many years of pondering and wondering, I finally got my hands on a midi equipped guitar. My first test was with the K2600, one of my most fav synth/samplers, this coped well with the bending and I have been tracking up bass lines, leads and organ chops, it really is quite fun. I also tried a few virtual instruments, great fun with a zither bank, gave fresh perspective Logic's Sculpture, I then read the interface manual (lol) I then realise I am missing a trick, and boot up the Kyma! I have just searched all the forums, and I can't find any mention of guitar midi shenanigans. I find it inconceivable that I would be the first person to consider such a marriage! I will assume people where having too much fun to post. I am considering the concept of splitting out the hex cable to six channels, and then feeding them into separate kyma inputs, and then managing the amplitude and pitch tracking in kyma. (and then who knows...) As always I am getting way ahead of myself, I don't even have 6 inputs into kyma yet... Has such a thing been tried? Are there any conceivable obstacles? oh, I just found this pre-post open in a window about 7 hours later. I built a 6 patch kurzweil array, with the bottom string down an octave and the upper strings with more modulation and panning. Sounds epic. I have been playing so much my fingers hurt (I am pretty out of touch) Going to process it in Kyma tomorrow night. I will upload the results. mmm dayme, get an arp in there. Might have to start taking the kyma to work when we get AU. (geek out in the office in spare moments) IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Between me and my partner in crime, we started off with a K2000r, this we still have, yet slightly unloved. (there is something very special about the sound of the outputs.) We then invested in the K2600 Keyboard for the studio, however they where out of stock, so they lent us a rack for the months it took them to get more stocks. We ended up keeping both! At the peak of our sampler use, we did have tunes with 24 channels of Kurz onto the mixer! Perhaps I should post one. If you have never used a Kurz, the architecture has some parallels with the philosophy of Kyma. LFOs and cutoffs specified in hz etc, the whole extended modulation system "FUNS" takes a while to engage, put is ultimately very powerful. (Considering it is a hardware interface). I am quite quick at editing a kurz panel. I can build a well spec'd synth quicker than I can navigate logic or kyma to achieve similar results! (within the realms of semi modular subtractive synthesis anyway) Much thought has gone into the navigational aspects (short cuts, previous page button!) Kurzweil products (including the KSP8 effects unit) are always professionally spec'd reassuringly expensive, and on the large part totally mis-understood! Random Kurz fact - Biggest user of the K26 range: Gospel Churches! OO it is the weekend! Happy Days. Charlie IP: Logged |
