Hi all! I'm Pere and some of you know me from the Symposium at BCN.

Today I used the Pacarana for the first time. It came a week ago but I didn't have a proper soundcard until today. I plugged the Ultralite mk3 to a Yamaha 5.1 set and started browsing the library.

I must say that the feelings were almost identical to those I had back in 1983 when I started playing and programming synths. In those days I also had to study a lot and read many books about analogue synthesis and sound to become a "synthesist" but I must say today I lived again the sensation of charting new territories and being amazed by aparently simple things. 25 years ago it was a pitch envelope, today it was surround grains changing from discrete clicks to decorrelated noise.

It looks like it is going to be a nice adventure (again).

Welcome Trotz

I share your feelings about charting new territories, I've been programming synths for over 20 years and been a Kyma owner (8 processor Capy) almost two years now. Two years in I'm still having wonderful 'Gee I wonder what THAT does' diversions that come when you are exploring and learning such a deep and detailed environment.

My Pacarana should be arriving before Christmas (heh just like the Capy did two years ago) and I can't wait to set it up.

All the best,
Sean

Hi Tom,

I think I will start a series of easy short pieces, a kind of "études", to build some confidence and have some catalogue of the techniques I will be learning. Something simple and unpretentious but fun to listen to.

I will keep you posted when I put them on my site.

Regards!

Just started out myself here, loving every bit of it! I am not progressing very fast, but that is partly because there is so much to explore. I find the tutorials in the manual the most useful way to break new ground as a beginner, as they are laid out in a sensible way and give you a good starting point. The videos in the tweaky are helpful as well.

Hi Jesus...

I will surely drop you a line (or two) if I come across some problem I can't solve. Until now, I have been busy combining sounds from the library (making them surround compatible, for example) and trying to understand the SoundFile/Sounds/Prototypes paradigm. I think I got it he, he... it makes me feel dumb sometimes

Today I also managed to use InterpolatePresets as Carla showed at the Symposium. ¡Wacom Power! No useful musical output yet, though..
