Ok - editing this to relate my current experiences...

I am finding the following - I am delving into using the intuous here for the first time, and have downloaded the latest intuous drivers (xp) and the latest kyma version (7/16).

I am getting some strange results. I have finally gotten everything to work rather inconsistently, but I keep on setting the pen end to use for keyboard events and it changes back to the eraser preference after a few minutes?! (I thought that it was my imagination the first couple of times) I also find that when I have a sound running, the wacom mouse often stops functioning. I do everything set up per the instructions (buttons disabled and eraser set to eraser in the control panels).

The keyboard event pen examples work ok, but the controller ones have not been working as is. I generally have to go and mess with the mappings to get a result. I'm just trying the pen x travels through granular presets w/reverb sound, and the only mappings were pen x to focus, pen y to delay, and there was no audio. When I tried to edit the mappings, the mappings window became unresponsive. Now no Kyma windows will close, and I'm going to have to force quit.

Even when the sounds have several mappings, they don't work (no response from faders and no sound) until I remap them. When I click on one of them all of the mappings disappear (this has happened several times) and I can then remap them, and the mappings work.

I'm giving up. Spent the last couple of hours trying to get this to work, and had it working just briefly enough to see that it does work in theory, but that there seems to be something very wrong here, possibly with my brain.

A couple of questions:
* Which computer platform (PC/Mac)?
* Which operating system?
* After doing the setup, did you reboot your computer? (It seems to be necessary in order for the Wacom settings to take hold)

oops sorry - that info was in the original post, which I edited so heavily that I accidentally removed it. I'm using a pc, xp with sp2, and I did reboot before trying it out in Kyma (several times).

Please try quitting Kyma and then go back into the Wacom control panel and bring the pen into the proximity of the tablet and make sure you see the Pen listed as one of the devices. Use the button to set everything to Default. Then reboot the computer. Before starting Kyma, first check whether you are able to use the Pen as a normal mouse. (This will check whether the tablet itself is working correctly).

Please let us know what happens. Thanks!

I didn't post every result/symptom because I was so busy trying to get it to work...I was able to have the pen work to control the cursor (which is what you meant, I think). The thing is that that both ends of the pen work - it's just that the results were so strange and inconsistent - the preferences reverting, the mappings not working and disappearing, etc. I'll try again tonight.

I haven't gone and unplugged other usb devices - is it possible that there could be conflicts there? I'll have to try that too.

Please get the revised pen examples from the tweaky as well. Some of the comments on the original examples will be reversed with respect to which end is which (since we changed the default KBD end from the pointy end to be the eraser end now)

Oh, that wasn't an issue after the initial disorientation. However, the preferences shouldn't always revert back after I set them differently, should they?

We are not sure how the preferences could be changed without either using the Edit menu or the Pen Status window pop up menu...

"We are not sure how the preferences could be changed without either using the Edit menu or the Pen Status window pop up menu..."

And well you shouldn't be After reading this again tonight, something clicked and I went back to the pen status window. Now, you'll have to cut me a little slack, because my vision just isn't what it used to be. But, what I read last night in that preferences drop down in the pen status window was 'pan'. Not that it made too much sense to me, but I was so involved in trouble shooting why the preferences kept changing, among other things, that I didn't question it...ok - well one silly user trick explained.

Everything seems to be working, but I am puzzled about one thing. In the examples, the mappings for controllers are simply not set. In order to get the examples to work, I have to set e.g. pen x to map to pen x, pen y to map to pen y, etc...now the comments fooled me initially, because they suggested to me that these were already mapped. But, why wouldn't they be in examples?

In any case, this seems to be working well, so I appreciate your, uh, patience.
